Who is Ice Cube?
Ice Cube is an American rapper, actor, filmmaker, writer and businessman. He is popularly known for being a part of the rap group, “N. W. A” alongside Dr. Dre and Eazy E.
Ice Cube’s lyrics on the N. W. A album, “Straight Outta Compton” contributed immensely to the widespread popularity of gangsta rap. As an actor and filmmaker, Ice Cube has worked on films like the Barbershop series, “XXX: Return of Xander Cage”, “XXX: State of the Union” and “The Book of Life.” Ice Cube is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time.
Ice Cube’s real name is O’Shea Jackson. He was born on June 15, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, USA, to his parents – Doris Jackson (mother) and Hosea Jackson (father). As of January 2023, Ice Cube is 53 years old.

a. Beverly Jean Brown
Ice Cube’s older sister, Beverly Jean Brown was gruesomely murdered by her husband in 1981. At the time of her death, Beverly Jean Brown was 22 years old and Ice Cube was 12 years old. After a domestic dispute, Beverly Jean Brown’s 27-year-old husband, Carl Clifford Brown, reportedly took her hostage and barricaded them both inside the house. He then shot her. Beverly Jean Brown died from her injury while Carl Clifford Brown was only injured. However, Carl Clifford Brown passed away a month later, leaving behind their toddler son.
Speaking about the gruesome murder of his sister, Ice Cube said:
“I think about my sister a lot. I think about the turn of events that triggered that situation … America is built on the gun. America is in love with the gun. It’s a sick love affair. But it’s just hard to break.”
b. Clyde Ray Jackson
Ice Cube’s older brother is Clyde Ray Jackson. He has been credited for inventing the rapper’s stage name. Clyde Ray Jackson reportedly called his brother “Ice Cube” because he was too cool with girls at a young age.

Kimberly Woodruff and Ice Cube first met when they were both students at the Phoenix Institute of Technology. At the time, Woodruff was in a relationship with another boy.
