Zimbabwe’s human rights and political activist Dr Patson Dzamara has died.
Dr Patson Dzamara died after a long battle with colon cancer. Dr Dzamara is the younger brother of political activist Itai Dzamara who disappeared more than five years ago.
Dr Patson Dzamara has been scheduled for a cancer surgery after a crowdfunding campaign was launched for his treatment. He sadly passed away before the surgery could be conducted.
Dr Patson Dzamara’s death was confirmed by his close friend, Zimbabwean politician Nelson Chamisa.
Nelson Chamisa, who is the political leader of Zimbabwe’s opposition party, wrote on Twitter: “I’m so devastated…Just received bad news from the Dzamaras. The young Dr Patson Dzamara gone too soon. This has been a terrible 2020!”
