Olu of Warri is alive, not dead, says palace chief

Chief Maleghemi of the Warri Palace, who is also the director of the Warri Palace Administration, has debunked earlier rumours that Olu of Warri is dead.

It was widely reported in the media a few hours ago that Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli has died.

Some quarters reported the cause of his death to be complications from a coronavirus infection. It was alleged that the monarch had contracted COVID-19 and taken ill from complications of the disease.

Chief Maleghemi of the Warri Palace said in a statement released on Tuesday afternoon that Olu of Warri is only “indisposed” and not dead.

The statement further states that the ailing monarch is currently receiving treatment.

The statement reads:

“His Majesty is indisposed and currently receiving medical attention by a team of qualified medical specialist.”
