A teenage girl named Ujunwa Offiah has been arrested by the Lagos State police for conspiring with her boyfriend, Blessed Ifesinachi, to fake her own kidnap.
According to the police, Ujunwa planned with one Blessed Ifesinachi, an UBER driver in Lagos, who she was also allegedly dating, to get herself kidnapped.
After the staged event, the man demanded N30m in ransom from her family.
The police said it also arrested an accomplice, Precious Chukwu, 22, whose phone was used to negotiate with Offiah’s family.
It was later revealed that Blessed Ifesinachi was also dating Precious Chukwu.
Blessed Ifesinachi called Ujunwa’s family and requested N30m to get her freed but they later settled for N700,000 after negotiations which, unbeknown to him, involved the Police.
As at the time of publishing this post, Blessed Ifesinachi is still on the run while Ujunwa Offiah and Precious Chukwu have been taken into police custody.
