Beyoncé was due to attend this year’s Met Gala, but pulled out in the last minute after Jay-Z reportedly booked her a holiday.
The rapper felt that his superstar wife was due for a break, following her acclaimed Coachella performance and ahead of the duo’s forthcoming international tour.
Although Beyoncé skipped the religion-themed 2018 Met Gala, she somehow still managed to steal the night when a hilarious meme began circulating on Twitter.
But fans quickly started joking that just because we couldn’t see Beyoncé didn’t mean she wasn’t there—she’d clearly hit the red carpet as the Holy Spirit.
“Beyoncé arriving as the Holy Ghost. Stunning!” one Twitter user wrote while uploading a picture of the red carpet with no one on it.
“Beyoncé serving looks,” someone else joked, posting an image of a shadow on the red carpet.
