Other details of the death of Buhari’s in-law and friend, Ismaila Isa Funtua

Ismaila Isa Funtua, a close associate of President Muhammadu Buhari who was also his in-law is dead.

Buhari’s personal assistant on new media Bashir Ahmad confirmed the news of Isa Funtua’s death, describing it as “sudden”. He also prayed that Allah forgave Isa Funtua his shortcomings and grant him “Jannah al-Firdaus.”

Ismaila Isa Funtua is from Katsina State and has been described by several sources as “a longtime friend and associate” of President Muhammadu Buhari. Isa Funtua was also one of Buhari’s in-laws – one of his sons is married to one of the president’s daughters.

Ismaila Isa Funtua reportedly died of a cardiac arrest on Monday, July 20. He was aged 78. There are also reports going round that a COVID-19 diagnosis contributed to Isa Funtua’s death. However, these reports remain unconfirmed.

Isa Funtua was the Federal Minister of Water Resources in the Second Nigerian Republic before going to start and chair several private businesses.

Isa Funtua was the founder of Funtua Textiles Limited and the managing director of the Democrat Newspaper.

He was also the chairman of one of the largest indigenous construction companies in Nigeria Bulet Construction Company.

Bulet Construction has handled several building projects for the Nigerian Government.

Isa Funtua was also close friends with Buhari’s right-hand man Abba Kyari who died three months ago of coronavirus.
