RIP Izu – Family releases statement over Izu’s suicide

The family of Izu Madubueze, the young man who killed himself after being falsely accused of rape has released a formal statement about the death of their son.

Izu’s family says his death has caused them “incalculable pain and sorrow.”

The family statement said Izu, who went by the handle @Legend_izu on Twitter, was accused of “non-physical sexual assault” and had his name added to an unauthorized “sex offenders/rape list”.

The family statement confirmed the story that Izu tried his best to reach out to his unnamed accuser and Ms Nanichi Anese who peddled the self-created “sex offenders list” but was not listened to.

The family said while they have forgiven all those involved in peddling the allegations of rape against Izu, they cannot stop justice from taking its full course.

Izu Madubueze allegedly killed himself after being included in a sex offenders’ list prepared by Nani (Nanichi Anese) and posted online.

Nani has since deactivated her Twitter account following backlash over Izu’s suicide.
