CNN’s Christiane Amanpour diagnosed with ovarian cancer

Christiane Amanpour – the lead international anchor for CNN, has revealed she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Amanpour shared with viewers on Monday, June 14, that she has undergone major surgery to remove the cancerous mass and has been put on months of chemotherapy.

The 63-year-old veteran journalist explained that her four-week absence from work is due to the cancer diagnosis.

Amanpour urged other women to always get regular screenings and always listen to their bodies.

She said:

“I’ve had successful major surgery to remove it, and I’m now undergoing several months of chemotherapy for the very best possible long-term prognosis, and I’m confident.”

She added:

“I’m telling you this in the interest of transparency but in truth really mostly as a shoutout to early diagnosis. I want to urge all women to educate themselves on this disease; to get all the regular screenings and scans that you can; to always listen to your bodies; and of course to ensure that your legitimate medical concerns are not dismissed or diminished.”
