‘They are not fired’ – Chicken Republic reacts to dancing security guards video

Nigerian fast-food chain Chicken Republic has reacted to the reports that two of its security guards caught on video dancing while at work have been fired.

Chicken Republic in a statement released Friday afternoon, March 4, 2022, stated that the security guards in question are not direct staff of the company but are contract staff from a private security company.

According to the eatery, the management of the private security company that employed the two guards “had concerns” after seeing the video that the guards were not engaged in their “core responsibility” which is customers’ safety and security.

The company added that the private security company has confirmed that the guards were not fired but was “offered some retraining”.

According to the statement, the guards have also been paid their dues and are not owed salaries.
