CNN reporter arrested on Live TV in Minneapolis

In one of the most unusual scenarios in journalism, an African American CNN reporter has been arrested in Minneapolis during a live broadcast.

Omar Jimenez was taken into police custody while covering the ongoing protests in Minneapolis even after identifying himself to the police officers.

In a video of the incident, Omar Jimenez is seen displaying his ID card to the officers before they cuffed and took him away.

Two other members of Jimenez’s production were also taken into police custody.

In an official statement, CNN calls the arrest “a clear violation of the reporters’ First Amendment rights” and demand their immediate release from detention.

The ongoing protests against the unjust murder of George Floyd by police officers have gone nationwide.

The protesters have set a Minneapolis police station on fire.
