South African musician ‘DJ Papers 707’ dies of suspected coronavirus complications

The death of South African musician and entertainer DJ Papers 707 has been confirmed.

DJ Papers 707 whose real name is Vusi Mabuza reportedly died of coronavirus-related complications, according to a local South African newspaper.

The 42-year-old musician died in the hospital on Wednesday morning where he was initially being treated for gout.

DJ Papers 707 is known in South Africa for making the amapiano music genre more popular through his signature dance moves. Amapiano is a local South African style of music that surfaced around 2012. The true origin of the amapiano genre in South Africa is not known but the music style was made more popular by some South African DJs.

DJ Papers 707’s management made the announcement of his death on Wednesday.

Some South African music artistes have expressed their sadness over DJ Paper’s death.
