A new CNN investigation report has exposed the actual events of Tuesday night, October 20 when soldiers opened fire on unarmed #EndSARS protesters sitting in at the Lekki toll plaza in Lagos.
The investigation video shows evidence of soldiers’ presence at the time of the shooting and also the class of ammunition used in the shooting.
The CNN investigation report has further countered the government’s initial denial that the shooting did not happen.
Army representative Brigadier Ahmed Taiwo told the Judicial Panel of Enquiry on November 14:
“There’s no way officers and men will kill their brothers and sisters. I repeat no way. We have those who constantly seek to drive a wedge between us and between the citizens of Nigeria…”
The army also disagreed with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s earlier statement that he did not send the soldiers and does not have the authority to command the army.
The army said at the hearing that it was the governor who called soldiers to the scene because the police were overrun.
