A report by Nigerian political news platform Sahara Reporters has stated that 38 more bodies have been recovered from the rice fields where Boko Haram insurgents attacked farmers in Borno State.
The new SR report alleged the death toll from the November 28 attack has risen to 81, contradicting an earlier claim by the Defence Headquarters that only 43 people were killed in the attack.
Sahara Reporters said they were informed that the army restricted members of the search party from taking pictures.
The news outlet’s quoted source described the attack as a “human harvest” rather than a massacre.
The quoted source said:
“The army restricted us from capturing the scene with our phones; they know what they are doing, and they know they will be exposed. Today alone, 38 bodies were recovered and it will continue tomorrow.
“What happened here was a human harvest, not massacre, the story media and the government is just lying. They did not even talk about the farm produce and rice plantation that was razed ablaze by Boko Haram. Some bodies can never be recovered because flowing water went away with them.”
