‘They told us to say they are Boko Haram’ – Kankara schoolboy speaks up

One of the victims of the recent abduction of over 300 schoolboys in Katsina State has told reporters that the gang that kidnapped them told them to say they are Boko Haram

The Kankara schoolboy who spoke while captivity with the gang said he was convinced by the “armed robbers” to speak and inform the military to stop sending jets and soldiers after them.

The boy said the gang was afraid of the army jets and threatened to kill them if the Nigerian army did not stop sending them.

The victim told reporters that the gang told them to say they are Boko Haram, even though he believed by his personal judgement that they are not part of the Boko Haram terror group.

He said when asked who he thought the men that kidnapped them are:

“I did not know who they are but they said I should say they are Boko Haram, gangs of Abubakar Shekau. What I experienced, sincerely speaking, they are not Boko Haram.”

The victim also disclosed that they suffered a lot while in captivity. He said they were beaten by the men and was fed only once a day.
