Who is Cardi B?
Cardi B is an award-winning American rapper, actress, social media personality and entrepreneur. She is popularly known for her aggressive flow and lewd lyrics. Cardi B is also known for hit songs like “Bodak Yellow”, “Up,” and “WAP,” which featured Megan Thee Stallion.
Cardi B’s real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar. She was born on October 11, 1992, in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City, the United States to her parents; Clara Almanzar (mother) and Carlos Almanzar (father). As of July 2022, Cardi B is 29 years old.
About Cardi B’s parents
Cardi B’s father, Carlos Almanzar immigrated to the United States in 1990. He is of Dominican descent. Her mother, Clara Almanzar is of Trinidadian, African and Spanish origins. Carlos Almanzar worked as a taxi driver while Clara Almanzar was a cashier at a local supermarket. Cardi B is very close to her parents and has often described them as “real good parents”. She added that without her mother’s support and guidance, she might have ended up dead, beaten or as a teen mom.

Cardi B has told the story of how she ended up with her name. According to her story, because her younger sister’s name is Hennessy, named after the cognac, friends started calling her Bacardi, a popular brand of rum.

“My sister’s name is Hennessy, so everybody used to be like ‘Bacardi’ to me. Then I shortened it to Cardi B. The ‘B’ stands for whatever, depending on the day…. Beautiful or bully. No one calls me Belcalis except for my family.”
Before settling for “Cardi B”, Belcalis Almanzar used the name “Bacardi B” on her social media handles.

As of the time of publishing this article (July 2022), Cardi B has been married once. She is currently married to Georgia-born rapper Offset. The two got married in 2017 and have been together ever since.

DJ Self is a radio personality and DJ from New York City. Cardi B and DJ Self met on the set of “Love and Hip Hop: New York.” At the time, DJ Self was one of the most popular DJs in New York. The two started a quid pro quo relationship in which DJ Self was to play Cardi B’s songs on air while they dated. However, DJ Self was in relationships with other women which Cardi B did not object to. Sadly, DJ Self still did not play Cardi B’s songs and so their relationship ended. Later on, Cardi B went off on DJ Self and accused him of stealing her rap style for his rapper, Dreamdoll who was the first female to be signed to DJ Self’s record label.
About Cardi B’s relationship with King Yella
After Offset’s infidelity and sex tape scandal in 2018, Chicago-based rapper, King Yella alleged that he had an affair with Cardi B. In his diss track titled, “Cardi B Truth”, King Yella claimed that Cardi B wanted to be the mother of his child and suggested that she slept with him back in 2015. He also created an Instagram account and shared a picture of him hugging Cardi B.
In a bid to set things straight, Cardi B contacted Yella via Facetime. However, Yella shared a screenshot of their Facetime conversation on his Instagram page. In retaliation, Cardi B shared a recording of their conversation where she told him that she’d never kissed or had sex with him and that he was just lying.
She said:
“You tried to make it seem like I did, and I never did. I’ve never kissed you. I’ve never nothing.”
About Cardi B’s relationship with Tommy Geez
During her rise to fame on “Love and Hip Hop: New York”, Cardi B got involved with Tommy Geez who was a rapper himself. Tommy Geez helped her while she was recording her album; “Invasion of Privacy.” She showed her appreciation for his help by posting a picture of them on her Instagram in 2016.
She captioned the photo:
“I think I’ll die for you. I think I’ll lie for you.”
According to reports, Cardi B and Tommy Geez dated from 2015 to 2016. Later in 2016, when Cardi B’s career took off, they called it quits. Tommy Geez was arrested for gun possession, released and then incarcerated again for running over a man and his eight-year-old son. Cardi B has a tattoo on her wrist dedicated to Tommy Geez.

Nothing is known of this particular Samuel that Cardi B dated other than the fact that he was really important to Cardi B. Cardi B has Samuel’s name tattooed on the back of her neck. However, she has now covered the tattoo with a butterfly.
About Cardi B’s marriage to Offset
According to information gathered by DNB Stories Africa, Cardi B met Offset (born Kiari Kendrell Cephus) at an industry event in 2016. In an interview, Cardi B revealed that she first thought Offset was only interested in a sexual relationship with her. Later in January 2017, Offset and Cardi B released their song, “Lick” together. In February 2017, Offset and Cardi B attended Super Bowl LI together. While they played it as friends at the time, Offset later revealed that it was their first official date.
On February 14, 2017, Cardi B posted a picture of Offset on her Instagram but later deleted it. When asked about their relationship in an interview, Cardi B said:
“It’s been a blessing, me meeting him (Offset) and his friends. I see how hard they work and that motivated me to work even harder.”
In a shocking twist of events, Offset proposed to Cardi B in the middle of Power 99’s Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia in October 2017. At the time, the two were already married but had not announced their marriage yet. Unfortunately, in January 2018, Offset was involved in a cheating scandal in which he was accused of not only cheating on Cardi B with another woman but also making a sex tape with this woman. Cardi B acknowledged the rumours in a series of now-deleted tweets.

In February 2018, Cardi B made a decision to stay with Offset and work through their issues. She clarified that while some people thought she had low self-esteem by deciding to stay with Offset, that was not the case. She also admitted that what Offset did was not right but she was not an angel either.
In April 2018, Cardi B revealed her pregnancy during a performance for Saturday Night Live. In June 2018, a copy of Offset and Cardi B’s marriage certificate surfaced online. It was then revealed that the couple had gotten married in September 2017, a month before Offset’s public proposal on stage.
In July 2018, Offset and Cardi B welcomed their first child together, Kulture Cephus. In September 2018, Cardi B celebrated the one-year anniversary of her marriage to Offset by posting a picture of their secret wedding where she was seen wearing a tracksuit.

Not long after the birth of their daughter, Cardi B announced that she was leaving Offset because things had not been working out for a long time. About their 2018 breakup, Cardi B said:

However, in February 2019, Cardi B and Offset attended the Grammy Awards together, confirming that they were back together. Sadly, in September 2020, Cardi B filed for divorce. However, by October 2020, they were back on track as a couple again. The divorce case was called off and dismissed without prejudice.
