The FBI ‘kidnapped’ Hushpuppi from Dubai, says lawyer Gal Pissetzky

It appears lawyer Gal Pissetzky is putting up a great fight for his newest client Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, aka Hushpuppi.

Gal Pissetzky who had earlier told Forbes that his client is “absolutely not guilty” and runs a legitimate business has reinforced his opinion that Hushpuppi is innocent in a recent BBC interview.

Hushpuppi’s lawyer Gal Pissetzky restated during his chat with BBC that his client was not a criminal and had made his money legitimately.

Gal Pissetzky told the BBC:

“He is a social media influencer with millions of followers, with millions of people that respect and loved him, and he loved them, and that’s what he did. In today’s society, that’s a business.”

Admitting that he does not know exactly how they do it, Gal Pissetzky said social media is “how people make money today”, alleging that Hushpuppi made his money by running Instagram promotions for different designer brands.

Gal Pissetzky also said the FBI acted illegally by transfering Hushpuppi to the United States from where he was arrested in the UAE.

Gal Pissetzky said the FBI “kidnapped” Hushpuppi from Dubai.

Pissetzky said:

“In my opinion, the FBI and the government here acted illegally when they kidnapped him from Dubai without any legal process to do so.”

He added:

“There was no extradition, there were no legal steps taken, there were no court documents filed, it was simply a call to the FBI. He is not a citizen of the United States, the US had absolutely no authority to take him.”

Pissetzky said he is not convinced the FBI acted right.

“If Dubai wanted to expel him, they should have expelled him back to Nigeria. I’ve never heard of anything like that. That is the real story here.”
