Two African women have been dragged to court for failing to pay a bill of Sh147K (over N500K) they incurred while “eating and drinking expensive alcohol” at a bar.
The women identified as Delilah Raila and Evy Cheptoo went to a joint called Black Stars Lounge and Bar in Kilimani, Nairobi, to consume food and alcohol but refused to pay the bill they incurred.
The two women were also reported to have abused the bar owner when he requested for his money.
According to the story, the incident took place on March 6.
At about 2:30 am in the morning of March 6, two women became unruly at Black Stars Lounge and Bar after they were asked to pay an Sh147,250 bill they incurred from food and drinks. They allegedly created a disturbance, shouting they would not pay. They also hurled insults at the bar owner.
The women were eventually arrested by the police and later charged with obtaining credit by false pretence and disturbance of peace at Kibera Law Court on Monday, March 14.
They have been released on a cash bail of Sh30, 000 each and the case adjourned to March 24 for further trial.
