Many Nigerians and viewers of the BBNaija reality show have heavily criticized the show’s organizers over the new method of voting and eliminating housemates.
The fifth season of the BBNaija show saw a total shift from the earlier known voting style. Initially, housemates do the nomination in the house and the power is left to the voting public to decide who leaves the show or stays.
In this new BBNaija voting method, all the housemates are put up for eviction, only excluding the winner of the head of house challenge and their deputy. The public is then made to vote for all the nominated housemates after which the four housemates with the lowest count of public votes are called up. The housemates are then made to vote for two out of the bottom four they would like to see leave the house.
This new BBNaija voting method has caused a lot of backlash as viewers complain that the ultimate power to decide which housemates leave or stay is being taken from them.
The outrage was further heightened after Kaisha’s eviction last night and it was revealed that she actually accumulated the highest public vote count out of the last three housemates she was in the bottom four with – with housemates Neo and Wathoni being the bottom two.
