Who is Eddie Izzard?
Eddie Izzard is a British stand-up comedian, activist, and actor. She is best known for her stand-up comedy shows and movies, including “Ocean’s Twelve,” “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “The High Note,” among others.
Eddie Izzard’s full name is Edward “Suzy” John Izzard. She was born male on February 7, 1962, in Aden, Aden Colony (now in Yemen). The British comedian is 61 years old as of January 2024.
About Eddie Izzard’s parents
Eddie was born to English parents Dorothy Ella Izzard (mother) and Harold John Michael Izzard (father). According to reports, their surname “Izzard” is of French Huguenot origin. Her mother, Dorothy, was a midwife and nurse, while her father, Harold, was an accountant. Eddie’s dad reportedly worked in Aden for the British Petroleum Company.
When Eddie Izzard was about a year old, her family moved from Aden to Northern Ireland and settled in Bangor. They lived there until she was five years old. The Izzards later moved to Wales and lived in Skewen. Unfortunately, Eddie’s mother died of cancer in 1968 when the actor was six years old, while her father passed away in 2018.

In an interview with Huffington Post in 2021, Eddie Izzard stated:
I spent 50 years predominantly in boy mode, so let’s try the next 50 in girl mode. It’s just a language adjustment. And no one should get heated up about it. I’m still gender fluid and I tell everyone that’s supported me …
In March 2023, Eddie added the feminine name “Suzy” to her name. Speaking on her sexuality, Izzard claims she is “a lesbian trapped in a man’s body.” Meanwhile, she first came out as a transvestite (cross-dresser) in 1985. During an interview with Scottish TV presenter Lorraine Kelly in March 2023, the comedian discussed her coming out stages. According to Eddie, she had always known she was trans from a young age. However, Suzy admitted that she couldn’t define what she felt as a child.
The comedian cum actor said:
I knew I was what seemed to be trans, but couldn’t define it when I was a young kid. So I thought, well, that’s not happening.
Eddie Izzard’s marriage and wedding

While the British comedian is not married yet, she previously dated Irish singer Sarah Townsend McGuinness for some years. I don’t believe in marriage, it’s a governmental rubber stamp or a religious thing but if you want to use that as an excuse to throw a party, then I won’t judge you. I’m a far greater believer in a strong relationship and would love to have kids one day, but I am trying to work out how to do that.
Eddie Izzard’s past relationship
Reports claim that Eddie Izzard was in a long-term relationship with Irish singer and producer Sarah McGuinness starting in 1999. The former couple met at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1989 and Sarah directed and co-produced the documentary Believe: The Eddie Izzard Story.
