About Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)

Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) is one of the biggest and most popular financial institutions in Nigeria.

The bank changed to GTCO PLC in July 2021 after it was recognized as a ‘Holding Company’ by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). GTB was founded in 1988 by over 35 young Nigerians who were in their 30s at that time. The founding team was led by Tayo Aderinokun and Fola Adeola.

The bank’s headquarters is located at Plot 635, Akin Adesola Victoria Island, Lagos. It has 11 banking subsidiaries across Africa and over 10, 000 employees. Hezekiah Oyinlola is the bank’s current chairman, while the Group Executive Officer is Segun Agbaje.

Ways to transfer money from GTB to other banks

GTB has several means through which their customers can perform different monetary transactions without visiting the bank. Some of them include:

Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) USSD Code

The USSD Code for GTB is *737# for customers in Nigeria. Customers in Kenya are to use *878# for their mobile banking transactions.

Use of USSD codes to carry out monetary transactions is also called 737 Banking and the service can be carried out on any phone type, whether internet-enabled or not. GTB was one of the earliest Nigerian banks to introduce fast and efficient mobile banking services.

Some of the transactions that can be performed using the USSD code includes:

• Transfer money to GTB account and other bank accounts
• Airtime top-up
• Bills payment
• Checking account balance
• Cardless withdrawal
• Account opening
• Generating OTP

Note: One needs to create an authentication pin or USSD pin before using the GTB mobile banking.

How to create a GTB Mobile Banking PIN

Option One

• Dial *737#
• Select option 7 to select create/change your pin
• Enter option 1 if you have an active debit card
• Enter the last 6 digits of the debit card
• Enter preferred PIN

Note: The option above applies to customers with an active debit card. Preferably one can also dial *737*5#, input the last 6 digits of the debit card and create a pin for a shortcut.

Option Two

• Dial *737#
• Select option 7 to select create/change your pin
• Enter option 2
• Enter account number
• Enter date of birth
• Enter preferred PIN

Note: The option is applicable to customers without an active debit card.

How to transfer money from GTB to another GTB account

Option 1:

• Dial *737#
• Select option 4 to transfer to another GTB user
• Enter the amount to be transferred and the recipient account number.
• Finally, enter your authentication code for verification.

Option 2: Dial *737*1*amount*account number# and enter your authentication code to confirm the transaction.

Option 3: Dial *737*1#, enter amount and then recipient account number. Input PIN to confirm the transaction.

How to transfer money from GTB to another bank account

Option 1:

• Dial *737#
• Select option 5 to transfer to other banks
• Choose recepient’s bank
• Enter recipient’s account number
• Enter the amount to be transferred
• Finally, enter your authentication code for verification.

Option 2: Dial *737*2*amount*account number#, select bank and enter your authentication code to confirm the transaction.

Option 3: Dial *737*2#, enter the amount, recipient account number, and select bank. Input PIN to confirm the transaction.

How to transfer money using the GTB Mobile App

• Download the mobile app from Google Play Store or IOS
• Visit any branch of the bank close to you for further help.
